A. Read the passage and answer the following questions.
The hardworking cobbler Ahmed used to work all day in his shop. The son of Mr. Sharma, Akash, used to come to see him everyday for hours. He would enjoy himself watching how the tradesman worked. "Young man, why don't you try your hand at making shoes, even if it is only to pass the time?" said the cobbler. "Who knows, one day, it may be of use to you."
The boy began to see what he could do. But after a little practice he found that he was becoming very skilled and soon he was making some of the finest shoes.
Old Mr. Sharma died and the son lost all his money. He had to leave home. It so happened that in the village there were numerous people who were spending a lot of money to buy strong shoes and even at times when they paid high prices they were not always able to get what they wished.
Akash, who was finding it difficult to earn his daily bread remembered that once upon a time he had learned the art of making shoes and selling them. The village people happily accepted his offer. And after a while, Akash found that he was soon making the finest and strongest shoes in the village.
"How funny it seems, "he used to say, "Even making shoes can bring a fortune."

A .Read the following sentences from the lesson.
I had given those boots up when one evening they came.
"Had given - is an example of the past perfect tense and 'came' is an example of the simple past tense.
As you can see, when you talk about an event in the past we use the simple past tense. When we laik about an event which took place before another event in the past, we use the past perfect tense.
Complete the following sentences using the appropriate past tense forms of the verbs given in the brackets.

A. Based on the words given above write a brief description of a cobbler.
- A cobbler is a person who repair leather ,shoes, sandals, slippers and anything that we wear on feet.
- We can generally see a cobbler sitting on the bus stands or at open places in a market or sidewalks.
- They have a special toolbox which contains instruments required for stitching , pasting etc. The toolbox contains a hammer, an awl , a knife, shoe stand ,cutter etc.
- Cobbler are economically weak as they get little money from repairing shoes,so we should not bargain with them.
